Gilbert R. Schorlemmer, M.D.
Dr. Gilbert R. Schorlemmer attended Texas A & M University where he completed the premed program in two-and-a half years with honors. He graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. After completing his general surgical residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he gained experience as a cardiovascular surgical resident at the University of Utah.
Now a board-certified surgeon, Dr. Schorlemmer was selected to start the only open heart surgical program in southern Colorado. For the next 10 years, he focused on building an open heart surgery center that served two main hospitals and five facilities in that region.
After returning to Texas, he designed a cardiac surgical facility that served south Texas and Northern Mexico. There, he pioneered the use of intrathecal pain control for patients who undergo heart surgery. As a result, they experience less pain, recover more quickly and return to normal activity sooner.
Dr. Schorlemmer is honored to care for his patients. He does his best to apply existing surgical and pain control methods to provide superior results for each of them.
