David G. Affleck, M.D.

Dr. David G. Affleck graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in human biology. He earned a medical degree from the University of Utah, School of Medicine, where he also fulfilled a surgical residency. Following graduation, he completed a fellowship program in cardiothoracic surgery at Washington University, School of Medicine, in St. Louis.

Dr. Affleck is a board-certified surgeon and was among the first nationwide to perform the Mini-Maze. This minimally invasive surgical technique eliminates or decreases irregular heartbeats caused by atrial fibrillation and other cardiac arrhythmias. 

This experienced surgeon is the only one in Utah currently certified to perform the Mini-Maze. He not only conducts this surgery at MountainStar hospitals in Ogden, Salt Lake City and Orem, Dr. Affleck also trains surgeons around the country in this innovative approach.

His highest priority is to improve the lives of his patients. He understands their concerns and is the ultimate patient advocate. To that end, Dr. Affleck helps his patients and their families to understand all of the surgical and medical options available to them.
